Project Overview
The existing building was clad in old asbestos panels, which were leaking and provided no thermal insulation – resulting in high heating costs for the client. Acknowledging his responsibility to reduce CO₂ emissions, the client made the decision to invest in a new insulated roofing system. This upgrade also included additional rooflights to reduce reliance on internal lighting, lower energy consumption, and create a warmer, more comfortable working environment for staff.
Challenges
- Northern Neon was required to remain operational throughout the construction, which meant safe working zones needed to be established and always maintained.
- Wareing Buildings closely monitored the weather forecast to prevent water ingress, which could have caused costly damage to sensitive equipment, including a high-value laser cutting machine.
Our Solution
- Designated areas were safely cordoned off, and Wareing Buildings’ fully trained team carried out the removal of asbestos cladding in strict accordance with current safety regulations, ensuring full protection for both the client’s staff and those working on the project.
- Installed a new 100mm thick insulated composite roof system, incorporating 10% factory-assembled GRP rooflights.
- New valley and external Trimline gutters were fitted to improve drainage and roof performance.
